Pond Builders in Fort Worth, TX

DIRTROCK DALLAS builds and clears ponds on rural and acreage properties across the west side of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, from Fort Worth itself out to the surrounding ranch and farm country. Veteran-owned, fully insured, with a fleet built to move real earth.

Ponds We Build Near Fort Worth

A pond succeeds or fails based on the earthwork underneath it, not on how it looks once it’s done. Get the dam and compaction wrong, and a pond that’s brimming in April can be down to mud by late summer. DIRTROCK DALLAS puts that same fleet to work on residential acreage across Fort Worth and the western half of DFW, on digs that run from roughly half an acre of surface water up to multi-acre lakes.

We dig and build:

  • fishing ponds with the depth and structure fish need to survive a Texas summer
  • livestock and farm ponds sized to a property’s herd
  • drainage ponds that solve a standing-water problem instead of masking it
  • retention ponds that hold water on the property year-round
  • detention basins engineered to drain within a set window after a storm
  • stock tanks for rural acreage that doesn’t need a full pond

How a Fort Worth Pond Project Works

Every pond we build follows the same sequence, in the same order, on every property.

Soil Check Before Anything Moves

Every property tells us something different once we test it. Heavy clay compacts into a natural seal on its own, which is common on the west side of DFW; when a site comes back sandier, we install a liner as the first step.

Design: Depth, Dam, and Spillway

We set depth, dam placement, and spillway size before any excavation starts. Most of our Fort Worth-area digs land in the 10 to 12 foot range, sized to the same USDA guidelines we hold every dig to.

Clearing Utilities and Cutting the Basin

The crew cuts the basin and builds the dam wall in compacted lifts, the same standard our excavation crews hold to on commercial jobsites.

Grading the Banks

The last step shapes the banks so runoff feeds the pond instead of carving new channels around it. Grading stays with our own crew, so the property is finished when we leave rather than waiting on a second contractor.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you build ponds near Fort Worth, TX?
Yes. DIRTROCK DALLAS runs pond crews across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, including Fort Worth and the surrounding acreage communities on the west side of DFW. We’re based in Terrell and mobilize the fleet to your property. Call (214) 444-8825 or send your plans for a site walkthrough.
Most of our digs start once a property can support at least half an acre of surface water, which usually means 5 acres or more of total land. Smaller lots typically don’t leave room for a dam, spillway, and proper drainage. Send your property details and we’ll tell you straight whether it fits.
A detention pond is dry between storms and drains within 24 to 72 hours. A retention pond holds water year-round, which is what most fishing, livestock, and landscape ponds are. We build both. See our full breakdown of detention versus retention ponds for which one fits a given property.
What a pond costs comes down to its size, the soil it’s dug into, and how much dam and spillway work the site calls for. A half-acre pond in solid clay costs far less than a multi-acre lake with an engineered dam. Call (214) 444-8825 for a free estimate after we’ve walked your site.
Timeline depends on the pond’s size, the soil, and the weather, and typically spans one to several weeks of machine time for a residential dig. DIRTROCK DALLAS gives you a timeline alongside pricing on every estimate, so you know the schedule before we mobilize equipment to your property.

Why Fort Worth Landowners Choose DIRTROCK DALLAS

DIRTROCK DALLAS is veteran-owned and family-owned, and every pond we dig gets held to the DIRTROCK Standard, from the first cut to the final grade. We carry $1 million in general liability, $2 million aggregate, $1 million workers’ compensation, and $1 million auto liability on every job, and we’ll provide certificates without being asked.

That coverage sits behind a fleet DIRTROCK DALLAS owns outright: excavators, dozers, and the trucks to haul spoil off a property, nothing rented or subbed out for the day. Clients rate us 4.9 stars on Google, and our reviews are worth reading before you hire anyone to dig up your land.

Pond Building Coverage Across Fort Worth and West DFW

DIRTROCK DALLAS is based out of Terrell, on the eastern edge of DFW, and sends pond crews west into Fort Worth as part of the same Dallas-Fort Worth program that covers the rest of the metroplex, not from a dedicated Fort Worth office. The equipment travels to the job; the standard it’s held to doesn’t change.
